About

XUUX

[shoosh]

Noun • Yucatec Maya Origin • Hive

We are a creative space based in London, Ontario, dedicated to supporting both emerging and established artists. Rooted in collaboration and experimentation, XUUX serves as a platform for diverse artistic practices to grow and intersect.

More than a studio, XUUX is a living cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, events, workshops and gatherings that bring people together through art, music, and shared experience. At its core, XUUX exists to celebrate the many ways we express what it means to be human, together.

XUUX Artists Residents

Mai Tilson

Mai Tilson is a Mexican-Canadian photographer, multidisciplinary artist, creative producer, and founder of XUUX Artists. Originally from Mérida, Yucatán, and now based in London, Ontario, her work moves between photography, music, art, and community.

Mai founded XUUX as a place where artists could meet, experiment, collaborate, and make work together. What began as a photography studio has grown into a creative space for performances, exhibitions, residencies, workshops, and artist-led projects.

Her work is increasingly shaped by her connection to both Mexico and Canada. Through projects such as the XUUX Mérida residency, she is bringing artists from both places together to create, share ideas, and see what can happen when different people, disciplines, and cultures meet.
